Two and a half minutes

... takes the journey on the 82 meter long escalator, the so-called tube, which takes visitors to the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg to the public plaza at a height of 37 meters. According to the Finnish company KONE, the two-lane, convexly curved escalator is "the longest escalator in Western Europe and the only one in the world that describes an curve".

And whether the tube is running or not is decided exclusively by authorized employees who have the key to the Kraus & Naimer control switches with a key-lock device at the foot of the escalator. So it's a sure thing!

And not only that - we have also installed a number of KG20 switches in the rest of the building. Hopefully they will be used again soon and the Elphi is allowed to open, after all, around 3.9 million visitors were on the plaza in the 2017/2018 concert season.
