"Kraus & Naimer, Spezialfabrik elektrischer Starkstromapparate" (Kraus & Naimer, special manufacturer of electrical high-power devices) was founded in 1907.

The first manufacturing location, located in the cellar of a house in Wattgasse 53, in the 16th district of Vienna, had become too small after only two years of production. The company moved to Schumanngasse 35, in the 18th district of Vienna, in the year 1909. The number of employees slowly increased and after a few years had reached 100; large enough to be recognized as a "medium-sized enterprise".

During the last raid on Vienna our factory got damaged by a single stray bomb. The severe damage and the chaos of the general collapse at the end of WWII caused the closing of the company for several months.

Shortly after WWII the heavy damage was repaired, the buildings rebuilt and production of electrical switches resumed. From 1947 to 1965, the production site of KRAUS & NAIMER Ges.m.b.H. in Vienna was significantly enlarged and production was dramatically increased.

Between 1968 and 1970 an additional production facility was built in Weikersdorf, some 40 miles south of Vienna, and in 1989/1990 a state-of-the-art assembly facility was added there.

These production facilities are complemented by 19 wholly owned sales and marketing companies - called Solenoid companies - around the world.
